Weird and wonderful : plans / photographers

STATEMENT OF INTENT:I want to use landscape photography to show the beauty of Gods creation, but also show within the same image that humans are destroying the earth.

PHOTOGRAPHERS / INSPIRATION
1) Adam Burton
- Lives in Devon

I used Adam Burtons work as my inspiration for mine, as I liked the way he used trees as borders for his photographs. He captures every detail in the image clearly, which engaged me in understanding the beauty of standard things, such as rocks, that we take for granted. This impacted me, and made me want to do this in my own photography work.

I love how Adam has used the tree to border this image. The colours in the background contrast the silhouette of the tree, which makes the tree stand out. This ensures the detail of each branch and twig.

There is not an inch of this image which doesn't show beauty.
From the foreground to the background, there is something aesthetic.
The foreground shows the distinct detail of the ridges that the sea has made in the sand, whilst the background shows the sun setting, with a beautiful array of colours. The middle of the photo shows the reflection of this in the sea.
Your eye first goes to the ridges, as they are in focus in the foreground of the image. Following this, you look to the horizon line, which is more towards the top of the photo. The rule of thirds has been used to do this.

I want to use Adam Burtons photography as inspiration for my 'weird and wonderful' work, because I believe he really captures the details in the beauty of Gods creation. He captures the wonderful colours and interesting aspects of Gods design, whilst also making them look more mysterious, and makes you ask questions about the image, as he incorporates some man made items, such as the fence.

2) Charles Cramer - Uses photoshop in his landscapes to make them look more dramatic.
- He emphasizes certain aspects of the image to create this effect.

I want to take photos of water in my photography work, as I believe it reflects the peace of God.
This photo is one of my favourites of Charles Cramers, as he has used photoshop to bring out the colours and reflections in the sea. This makes the image feel very soothing.

In my photography I want people to be challenged by what they see and get a message from my images that we need to look after Gods Earth. I believe that Charles does this well in his images through photoshop, as it helps portray more emotions as it exaggerates specific things in his work which convey different thoughts to people.

This image is in black and white, which exaggerates the eccentricity of the clouds. Your eye is first captured by the edge of the cloud, where the outline is most bold and stands out. The next thing that catches your attention is the trees; the outline of them is very detailed, as you see each branch. This is because the black and white filter makes the colour of the clouds contrast with the trees.

I also have inspiration from various photographers and artists on Tumblr for this project.
I want to give off a message through my work, and I thought as well as doing this via the photograph itself, I could also put text on an image to emphasize the message.
These photos particularly stood out to me. They are very simple yet effective, and get the point across clearly, which is what I want to do in my work.

In this image they have used photoshop to overlay different images.
The simplicity of the soft grayscale colours draws you in, contrasting with the complex background.
The composition of the image works well, as the writing is placed in the centre. This makes it stand out more and catch your attention, as it is bold and white with a simple font in capital letters, which helps convey the given message.
