Dev 3 : we are stewards of Gods earth

DEV 3
'We are stewards of Gods Earth' - bible verse
I want to incorporate portrait photography with landscape photography to show that we should be looking after what God has created for us.

I used the filter 'multiply' on photoshop to overlay this image.
I used the tree landscape as the background.

I used the filter 'multiply' on photoshop to overlay this image.
I used the portrait photo as the background.

In my portraiture photography work, I photographed my friend, Trinity. She pulled an 'in awe' face, which I thought worked extremely well in my 'weird and wonderful' work, as it suggests that she is astounded at Gods creation. I felt it worked well as an overlay on this particular image, as her skin tone worked well with the sunset colours. I like this image, as the amazement in her eyes tells the viewer the message that we are blessed to have the privilege of stewarding Gods earth.
I like the composition of this image also, as the tree balances out the space that she takes up.
The inspiration of both photographers are in this image, as the detail of the beautiful colours is there, as well as the photoshopped element, ensuring it portrays a message with emotion.

----

I went to wolloton park and tried to get shots of my sister in different scenic backgrounds to show portray the image that we are 'children of God' and that we should all look after his creation.
I like the composition of both images, and feel that they could offer something, but I felt that it didn't have the same effect, as it took away the strong message I wanted to make come across, as she just looks innocent.

My next idea was to take a photo of someone with the sun behind them, and overlayed this 'silhouette' image onto a landscape:

I went to the University Park to do this:

I like this image, but I feel it is not as powerful as it could be, due to the fact that her hands are covered by her coat.

I like this image, as the hands on hips suggest authority and being a guard of the Earth, however, because she is young, it could take this message away from the image.

The reflection in the water makes it look peaceful, which relates to how Charles Cramer took his images.

In this image, I tried to incorporate the idea of the silhouette, as well as the reflections in the water, so that the image may be more powerful and give off more of the message, however, it is really hard to see the silhouette, so I don't think it works that well.

Charles Cramer was my inspiration for this image, as the reflections in the water suggest the peace of God, and pass on that emotion and feeling to the viewer. Colours are also present, which add to the soothing feel of the photo.

I like the contrast of colours in this image, as the leaves are orange, the stones are grey and the trees are green. I also like how it has clear reflections in the water, as it shows true nature. However I feel the composition could be better, as the stones cut through the image. To improve it I would ensure what the reflections are of are in the image, so that the stones cutting through could show the difference from the peace of God in the reflections to what the world is seeing in the natural surroundings.

 Photoshop -->

I like the message of this image, and the composition of it, however I struggled on photoshop to make the girl look as if she is in the image, and it therefore looks fake.

THE WRITING :

I drew the writing out by hand on a plain white piece of paper, so it would overlay on photoshop easily

I separated the writing by cropping it, so that I could rearrange it

I was then able to re-arrange it to how it best suited on the photo -
I first put it all in a line:

I changed the writing to white, so you could see it clearly on the darker park of the image.

but I felt it didn't cover enough of the image, so I put it on 2 lines:

I like this image because, like Charles Cramer did, it shows the peace of God through the reflections of the calming water, and at the same time expresses emotion and the message that we are stewards of Gods Earth. The inspiration of the text from artists on Tumblr also works well in this image as it emphasizes what the image is saying. The overlayed birds also symbolise nature and creation.
