I wanted to take images that show the presence that humans have on the earth, and how we are changing beauty into ugliness.
I went to the woods and took photos of chopped down trees.
This image of birds flying shows the 'messiness' we have created in the world.

I distorted this image in photoshop by painting the trees pink to show that it is unnatural and that its beauty has been taken and turned into ugliness.
In this image, I overlayed mud tracks onto a sunset photo. I feel this image works well as it tells us how we are wrecking the Earth. I like how the texture of the mud is shown in this image.
----
Near my house there is a big mound of crushed waste in the middle of some fields.
I wanted to take a photo of it to show we are disturbing nature. In this image, I used a tripod with a slow shutter speed. I shot the image then turned it from portrait to landscape and vice versa on the others. I did this to create a 'messy' effect to show destruction.
As Charles Cramer used water to pass on the emotion of Gods peace, I tried to do that but to pass on the emotion of sadness, as the image feels dull and depressing. This will help get the message across that we are changing beauty to ugliness.
I like the depth of field in this image, as it focuses on that specific plant and blurs out some subject matter in the foreground, so your eye goes straight to the point of focus.
I love this image as the raindrop is in really clear focus and amazes you, whilst it challenges you when the background is dull and shows sadness. However, even though the brightness of the plant in the foreground contrasts well with the dark background, it takes focus of the rain drop, and the plant is blurred. So to improve this image I would ensure the plant is all in focus.
I love the depth of field in this image. The rain drop shows you the elements of beauty in creation, while the thorns in the background could suggest destruction.
I love how this image can seem dull and show the 'ugliness' we are creating, as it in dark colours and muddy, but the reflection in the puddle is nature, showing Gods creation.
dead plant :
I love the composition of this photo, and the depth of field. Your eye goes straight to the berry and raindrop, as it is in more focus, then it goes down the branch and thorns, then to the other berries. The contrast of the red and neutral background helps it stand out.
I struggled to get the focus right on these images, as my focus was on auto instead of manual. Therefore, I was able to re-shoot the same kind of plant in a different, more interesting location, as you can see on the 'uniqueness' page.
I took these photos so that I could overlay them onto a landscape to emphasize the messiness:

I then thought about how buildings and other man made things show our mark on the Earth, and how we are interrupting Gods ways:
I love this photo, as it shows the texture of the cut down tree trunk, which shows death and destruction, whilst at the same time there are grave stones in the back ground, giving a negative feel.
However the nature side of the tree in the background contrasts this.
I like this image, as it shows the difference between the patterns of nature, and the patterns that man creates.
Your eye goes straight to the foreground of the image, where the darker stones are, which stand out and catch you eye, it then works its way to the middle of the circle.
I felt this statue is a good image to have, as it really shows the human mark we are leaving on the Earth.
This shows the reflections that we see as humans, instead of the reflection that God wants to give. I like this image, as each building contrasts each other.
I like the idea of this image, as there is detailed man made things in it, but the composition isn't right, as I have not made it central, and have cut off some of the pattern.
I like the depth of field in this photo, but I feel to improve it, more of the railing could be in focus so you can understand what it is.
photoshop :
I wanted to overlay images of buildings in water to make it look as if it is a reflection, giving the idea of a 'world in a world' to show the essence of Gods beautiful creation amongst what we have done in the world.
However, I feel that this image doesn't quite work, as it doesn't really look like a reflection, which could effect the message that it portrays.
